When it comes to treatment of pests in your home, there are ways you could go about it. The first thing you need to do is reduce clutter by removing all the personal items and anything that is not permanent in the room. In the process of removing clutter, it is worth noting that you might be transferring these pests to the other areas of the home. If possible, bag these items in plastic to avoid contamination to the other areas in the home. You cannot use insecticide on infested garments and linens and this is the reason why you need to launder them. While laundering the infested garments, you need to put them in hot water or heat them inside a dryer so as to kill the pests.
You must dismantle the frames of the bed and use a flashlight to be able to see if there are any pests hiding in there. If there are any infestations on the fabric of the bed, you will be able to see them with a flash light. If the mattress together with the box is infested, you will need to cover with encasements. During infestation, it is advisable that you use encasements so that they neither get in or out of the mattress.
Some of the most common hiding places for pests are dresser drawers and this is why you should remove them as well. Furniture also should be turned over and inspected as you clean around to ensure there is no infestation. You can also pull them away from the walls so that there is no darkness they can hide in. So as to make sure the pest eggs are dislodged, you should scrub the areas infested with a stiff brush. You will need to vacuum extra for the places on the walls and furniture that have cracks and crevices. If you have done a good vacuuming job, you will have removed any particles in the crevices and cracks. If you manage to successfully remove the particles, you will have great insecticide penetration.
You need to clean the vacuum attachment at the end of the vacuum thoroughly because pests cling on such surfaces. Ensure you do not use bristle attachments because you will easily transfer the pests to other areas. After you are done with the vacuuming of the house, you should throw away the vacuum cleaner bags in a trashcan outside. Where there are pipes and wires penetrating the walls and floors, you need to caulk and seal them. You will be reducing the harboring areas of the pests. From the time of treatment, it is advisable that you allow at least three weeks for the treatment to work. If possible, hire a professional to do the treatment for you.
